What is TIWULE ?TIWULE (Touch It With Ultimate Learning Experience) is the code name of a multitouch project by Innovation Center AMIKOM that helping people interact with digital content in a simple and intuitive way by responds to natural hand gestures. As intuitive minded device, tiwule designed as a simple large, horizontal user interface without needed indirect input device such as mouse, keyboard, etc. Tiwule offers a unique gathering place where multiple users can collaboratively and simultaneously interact with data and each other.
What makes TIWULE different with nowadays Multitouch device?
Multitouch technology isn’t a new invention in nowadays computer industry. Several multitouch produch has deliver to the market. Such as HoloWall which is announced in 1997 then The Mitsubishi DiamondTouch table, SmartSkin, The JazzMutant Lemur, Wilson’s Touchlight, and the PlayAnywhere.By this era, multitouch isn’t yet widely known by public because of it special purpose. Then in 2007 In Some big company such as Apple and Microsoft also creating their multitouch product. Which are iPhone from Apple and Microsoft Surface .
The last multitouch table which is being produced massively is Microsoft Surface Although the product is already available to be bought ( instead currently Microsoft Surface is not available for individual consumer purchase ), it was not commonly used because it was so expensive. When Microsoft announced Multitouch it priced as $12,500 (unit only), whereas a developer Microsoft Surface units costs $15,000 and includes a developer unit Actually in 1996 Jefferson Han from Perspective Pixel introduced the technology in TED to create cheap multitouch system called FTIR. in 2007. By this technique, we believe it was the way to make to multitouch more affordable for the customer. But until now, the implementation of multitouch still not commonly used and seems an very expensive devices. So by TIWULE, we want to create the solution of this problem by providing cheap and more affordable multitouch device for user.
